Project Time
Project time allows us to explore topics that our class is interested in. We learn about the research process of wondering, conducting research, and showing our learning in a variety of ways. In previous years we have completed projects on dogs, seashells, bears, ducks, butterflies, monster trucks, the world, and flowers.
This is a highly engaging time as the class gets to choose the topic based on their interests. Sometimes we have to vote so it's a good learning opportunity to learn about a voting process and that it's okay if our topic wasn't chosen. Once the topic has been selected, as a class, we talk about what we already know about this topic and ask questions that we're wondering. We watch videos, read books, bring in guest speakers, visit places if applicable, and find other ways to learn all about our topic. Once we've become experts on the topic, we put our learning together and create art projects, books, pictures, videos, and other fun ways to show the new learning we've acquired.
